What I can offer. 

SEND

I am a qualified and experienced SEND teacher, with 20 years' experience of working with young people and adults with learning differences and neurodiversity.

I currently teach in a special school and have extensive personal experience of supporting young people with ASC, ADHD and PDA both online and in person. 

I fully appreciate that there is a myriad of circumstances which can lead us away from mainstream education.

I have experience of school-induced trauma in young people and adults and offer a consistently supportive and nurturing approach to rebuilding trust and confidence to be ready to learn collaboratively without the constraints of a specific curriculum, qualification or traditional 'subjects'.

ENGLISH 

Whatever your needs, interests and starting points, I can tailor English tuition to suit you. I have over 20 years' experience of teaching English from basic literacy to GCSE and everything in between. 

My knowledge and experience combined with an innovative approach towards learning such as linking etymology, music, modern languages and film and media to literacy, create deep and rich learning experiences. 

MATHS

Bring back the fun and wonder of exploring maths in the world around you, linking concepts with everyday life and building confidence in the skills you really need for life and work.

I can teach Maths up to and including Level 2 Functional Skills. 1-1 and small group tuition available. 

Sadly, maths is the subject that brings anxiety and stress about achievement and ability more than any other in my experience. I specialise in supporting adults and young people with negative experiences of learning, however recent or long ago, to rebuild confidence and start learning again with a fresh perspective. 

OTHER SUBJECTS 

As a teacher in adult and special needs education, I have supported learning across a vast range of subjects and am always excited to bring my skills and experience as an engaging tutor and facilitator to new areas.
